A major steel mill in the Midwest was having chronic problems with their HVAC system. It seemed as though the flow of water through their system was severely restricted. There were three proposed options for fixing their HVAC problems. The first option was to replace all the piping that had restrictions. This would have a high associated cost and labor content. The second option was to put individual HVAC units in each personšs office, again having a high associated cost. Neither of these options seemed very attractive. RYDLYME was currently being used at this facility for a different application, to clean the hoods at one of their cold reduction mills. An imaginative engineer decided RYDLYME should be the 3rd option to solve the HVAC problem. They decided to put RYDLYME to the test.
To their delight, the RYDLYME cleaning was a huge success! The cost and labor to clean out the pipes was drastically lower than replacing the pipes or changing the HVAC system. The solution cleared out the restrictions of each system in one day's time, and the building was experiencing a 25 to 30 degree improvement in the temperature!
